Mr. Martin "Mickey" Tevelow, 62, passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at his home. He was the beloved husband of Kristy Tevelow.
Born March 18, 1953 in Arlington Virginia, he was the son of Shirley Sahner Tevelow and the late Frank Tevelow.
Mickey grew up in Rockville, Maryland, graduating from Robert E. Peary High School and studying Technology and Management at the University of Maryland. He worked as a Security Manager for the Department of Energy, a Security Solutions Designer for Hewlett Packard, and ran his own consultancy, N8 Securities.
Mickey loved sports and played on many football, basketball, and softball teams. He had a gift for coaching children and served as an assistant coach for Winfield Rec League and North Carroll Community School. He also enjoyed hiking, canoeing, and reading comic books.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his brother Mark (Jennifer), his sister Renee, and his five children: Benjamin (Rachel, grandson Owen), Jesse, Nora, Hayley, and Kevin. He is preceded in death by his younger brother, Barry (Carla).
Mickey was an avid Redskins, Maryland Terps, and the Michigan Wolverines. The family would like to encourage guests to wear anything Redskins, Terps, or Michigan, or their favorite team shirt.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy on Monday, September 21, 2015 from 6-7PM. A short service and celebration of Mickey's life will then follow at 7PM. In lieu of sending flowers, donations may also be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (<http://www.themmrf.org/>).
