Martin Brookey

Martin Brookey, 76, of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, passed from this life on Monday, January 22, 2024 at Thornwald Nursing Home, Carlisle.  Born on December 1, 1947, in Frederick, he was the son of Charles Brookey and Margaret (Fridli) Brookey.

Martin was a 1965 graduate of Frederick High School and worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Post Office for many years until his retirement.  He loved bowling, traveling and going to the casino.  He loved sports and was a long time Redskins fan, was a coach for his son's little league team and also umpired men's softball for many years.

Mr. Brookey is survived by his children: Tammy Vuocolo, Martin Brookey and Joanna Crawford and husband Thomas; seven grandchildren: Olivia, Samuel, Abigail, Kala, Maggie, Ethan and Sophie.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a twin sister, Mary Brookey, in 2022.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, January 26, 2024 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.  Final Interment will be private at a later date at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
