Son of the late Martin H. & Emma (Timmerman) Bowers of Baltimore. Father of Martin C. Bowers and wife Karen of Germantown. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years Mary Elizabeth (Baker), daughter Anne Bowers Avent, and brother Calvin Bowers. Grandfather of 6 and great-grandfather of 3. Mr. Bowers graduated from Polytechnic High School in Baltimore, and the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy. During World War Two he was in the U.S. Army 87th Mountain Infantry in Italy, receiving two purple hearts and a bronze star for his service.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00am Friday, January 25, 2013 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1393 Progress Way, Suit 908, Eldersburg, MD 21784.
