Martha Elizabeth Vanderhuff

Martha “Sis” Elizabeth Vanderhuff, 75, passed away, peacefully, on March 4, 2025 listening to Elvis music. She was born May 14, 1949 to Homer David and Betty Louella Harris, and is one of 7 children. 

Sis worked at Hartz, in Frederick, MD, for many years and briefly worked at Schwab’s and Allegany Apparel in Cumberland, MD. When Sis, and her family lived in Bedford, she helped with various chores on the farm. After her family, Sis’ next love was Elvis Presley, whom she was able to see in concert, and even enjoyed going to concerts of impersonators.

Sis is survived by her mother, Betty, son, Charles Vanderhuff and wife, Rita, and 2 grandchildren, Matthew and Katie. She is also survived by her brothers, Dave, Tom, and Homer, her sister Sandy Jean, and 2 sisters-in-law, Leona and Sandy. Sis has many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss her dearly. Sis was preceded in death by her son, Scott, her father, a brother, Larry, a sister, Judy Mae, and a grandson, Nathan.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 9, 2025 from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 10, 2025 at 11am in the chapel of the Funeral Home. Interment will be at Rocky Hill Cemetery in Woodsboro, MD.
