Martha Lynn Pry

Mrs. Martha Lynn Pry, 85 of Middletown, MD passed away Monday, May 15, 2023, in her home surrounded by her family, as she so wanted.  Lynn was born in Frederick, MD at her family home on Market Street on May 4, 1938.  She was the daughter of the late Robert Martin Rupp and Kathryn Isabele Baumgardner.  Mrs. Pry graduated from Falls  Church High School in VA.  She later moved to Church Hill on the Eastern Shore.  When she met and married, the love of her life, David Outerbridge Pry, from Knoxville, MD on a blind date, they were married on October 11, 1964.

Lynn was a city girl who quickly became a country girl when she and David farmed the family farm (Needwood) for several years until David wanted to extend his farming and they moved to the Brendland farm on Kepler Rd., Knoxville, MD.  When David was forced out of Farming due to his illness with MS, Mrs. Pry became a Frederick County, MD school bus driver and drove for 21 years.  

Mrs. Pry had several passions with God being the most important.  She served on the church council, was a Sunday School teacher and sang in the church choir for many years.  She was a true Christian and faithful servant of Christ.

Farming was her passion in life, but her family was her true passion.  She adored her family and enjoyed spending holidays at her home with them, cooking and having family meals with them.

Mrs. Pry is survived by her daughter; Katherine Ann Pry Gilbert (Ron Gilbert, Jr.); granddaughter, Kayla Paige Bottomly (Charles Bottomly); two great grandsons; Kyle Preston Bottomly and Axle Outerbridge Bottomly.  Her close cousin, Peter O. Rupp, was more like a brother to her than her cousin.  Mrs. Pry is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and extended family that she had a close bond with and enjoyed spending time with. Mrs. Pry is predeceased by her husband David Pry, her parents, Robert and Kathryn Rupp and her grandson Kyle David Charles Scott.  

On behalf of Lynn, the family would like to give a very special thank you to their family doctor, Dr. Syed Haque for all his years of going out of his way to be there for Lynn and he was so much more than a family doctor.  

A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 19, 2023, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Feagaville, MD.  Family will receive friends before the service at the church at 10 am.  The service will immediately follow at 11 am with the Rev. Kenneth Gill officiating.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the Ballenger Community Hall across the street.
