Mrs. Martha Howard, 85, of Frederick, Maryland, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Robert L. Howard whom she married in 1952.
Born February 4, 1928 in Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Lillie Houndshell Goins.
In earlier years Mrs. Howard worked as a health care provider, also at Frederick Tailoring and Frederick Canning Factory. She loved taking care of her foster children, especially her granddaughter Jessie Ann. Martha enjoyed playing cards, cooking, the Orioles and NASCAR.
The family wish to thank the staff at F.M. H., Frederick County Hospice, and Dr Levange for the wonderful care they gave to Martha.
She is survived by her daughters Vickie Gastley and husband Allen, Sr., and Lisa Wand, her grandchildren Jessica Ann Wand and Allen Gastley, Jr and wife Kati, and her sister Christine Smith and husband Rodney as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters Mary Goins (her twin sister), Thelma Klipps and Bertie Jones and her brothers Denzel, Algie, and Mack Goins
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, January 27, at Mt. Olivet Cemetery with interment to follow.
