Mrs. Marsha Lee Opel, 67, of Thurmont, Maryland, passed away peacefully, on Monday February 3, to join the love of her life, her late husband Rickey Jay Opel.
Born June 10, 1946, in Frederick, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Anna Mae Miller Minnick.
Marsha worked at American Optical and Lonza. She was a graduate of Frederick High School class of 1965. Marsha was a member of the Thurmont Lions Club, former member of the Braddock Fire Co. Auxiliary, and volunteered at the Thurmont Senior Citizens Center also at Glade and Thurmont Elementary Schools. She loved being with and taking care of her family and cooking.
She is survived by her son C. Scott Opel and wife Janet, granddaughters Kayla and Kasey Opel of Thurmont. Her brother Darrell L. Minnick and wife Linda of Middletown. Sister Linda Ann Knott and husband David of Walkersville. Also her brother-in-law Horace "Chick" Opel and wife Wendy of Annapolis. Also many special nieces, nephews, great nieces,great nephews, cousins and many many special friends and extended family. She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law Edwin D. Albaugh.
The family would like to thank the Staff at Homewood at Crumland Farms for the care given to Marsha during her time there.
Friends may call at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont on Friday, February 7, from 6 - 9:00 pm.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers donations to Auxiliary of Homewood at Crumland Farms or to the Thurmont Lions Club.
