Mark Rimel, a devoted husband, proud father of three daughters, and cherished "Pops" to six grandchildren-with a seventh blessing on the way-passed away on April 2, 2025, while working on his beloved West Virginia property, a place that brought him joy and was central to his family's treasured memories.
Mark's life was defined by his unwavering dedication to family, his contagious laughter, and his boundless acts of kindness that touched all who knew him. Surrounded by the joy of daughters and granddaughters, with one lucky grandson, Mark found endless happiness spending time with his grandchildren. Whether playing catch, peek-a-boo, or dominos, or simply snuggling to watch their favorite shows, Pops was more than a grandfather-he was their best playmate, a steadfast source of comfort, and their biggest fan.
Mark is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Patty Rimel; his three daughters, Jessica Plowman, Tricia Bush, and Theresa Ramirez; his sons-in-law, Matthew Plowman, Wayne Mitz, and Rodrigo Ramirez; and his adored grandchildren, Annabelle Bush, Elias Plowman, Alexis Bush, Kayla Plowman, Ashlynn BushMitz, and Theodora Ramirez. He is also survived by his mother, Mary Ann Rimel; his siblings, Chris Rimel (spouse MaryAnn Rimel) and Diane Finucane (spouse Dave Finucane); and his in-laws, Kathryn and Joe Evens. He was preceded in death by his father, Herschel Rimel; his brothers, Hershey and Larry Rimel, though he is lovingly remembered by Larry's surviving spouse, Michelle Rimel.
Mark's love for the outdoors, fishing, and creating special memories with his family was a cornerstone of his life. Alongside his beloved wife, Patty, Mark cherished the adventures and warmth of their West Virginia home away from home for the past 37 years. It was a sanctuary where family and friends gathered to laugh and celebrate life's simple joys. The property was his labor of love, and it was here-doing what he loved-that he spent his final moments.
An outgoing and thoughtful soul, Mark effortlessly entertained with his captivating stories and humor that left everyone smiling. His acts of service were as natural to him as his smile-always thinking of how he could uplift others. Mark worked tirelessly to ensure his daughters received the education they deserved, instilling values of hard work and dedication in every step of their lives.
Mark's legacy is one of love, laughter, and kindness. He will be deeply missed by all, and remembered fondly by everyone fortunate enough to have shared in his remarkable journey.
