Mark Mooney, Jr.

June 7, 1936 — March 1, 2018

Mark Wendel Mooney Jr., 81, of Union Bridge, passed away on March 1, 2018 at Glade Valley Center in Walkersville, MD. Born on June 7, 1936 in Takoma Park, MD he was the son of the late Mark Wendel Mooney Sr. and Marjorie Alice (Chapman) Mooney.
Mark grew up in Kensington, MD where he graduated from Bethesda Chevy Chase High  School. After high school he served in the United States Marine Corps and then worked for Bell Atlantic, where he worked for over 38 years.
Mark was married to his first wife, Patricia and they had a son, Mark III (Mickey). They were later divorced.
Then in 1963 Mark married Constance Nickolson.  They were married for 45 years and had 4 children Kimberly, Clinton, Bryce and Marie.  They were later divorced.
Mark enjoyed collecting coins, spending time at the beach, the ocean, nature, helping others, giving to others, the scriptures, genealogy, his parents, a good sub sandwich (esp. a Reuben), fried chicken and his children.  He also enjoyed listening to Elvis, Patsy Kline, Loretta Lynn, Bluegrass, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, and more recently singers Charlotte Church and Jackie Evancho.
Mark will be remembered by his son, Mark Wendel Mooney III and Kim, and daughter, Jessica of Bradenton, Florida;  daughter, Kim Simmons and husband Mahlon II and their 2 children Mahon III and Marissa, of Union Bridge, MD;  son, Clinton Mooney and Fiancé, Koryne  of Frederick, MD; son, Bryce Mooney and Denise and unborn son, Brayden of Randallstown, MD and daughter Marie Shifflett and husband Mike and their 4 children Jordan Christian, Mason, Bentley and Brooklyn Shifflett;  of Perry Hall, MD;  his sisters Margaret Phillips and husband Jack of CA, and Mary Beth Wells and husband Wayne of WI;  and also his nieces and nephews and ex-wife, Connie Prince.
Mark was preceded in death by his first wife Patricia.
A memorial service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 7255 Ridge Road, Mt. Airy, MD on Saturday, March 10 at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society or Stand Up to Cancer.
