Ms. Marjorie Virginia Green, 78, of Frederick died Friday, July 18, 2014 at Sunrise Assisted Living.
Born November 10, 1935 in Westminster, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. Green, Sr. and Helen I. Barber Green.
She was a graduate of Frederick High School Class of 1953 and had attended Hagerstown Business College. Marjorie did bookeeping/administrative work in Frederick from 1953-1958 at Price Electric Corporation; from 1958-1960 at Ideal Garage Company; and from 1979-1981 at Routzahn & Son's. She owned Beachley's Ceramic Shop in Jefferson where she taught many classes from 1971 until its closing in 1979.
In 1980, Marjorie began a 17-year career as an electrical drafter first with Bechtel Eastern Power Corporation, Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant, and then retired from Baltimore Gas & Electric Company.
Marjorie was an outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. She was a longtime member of The American Legion Auxiliary, F.O.E. Eagles Auxiliary & Women of the Moose clubs.
She is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Beachley Varkalis and husband, Raymond, of Gaithersburg, and Lynn Beachley DeVore and husband, Mark, of Blue Ridge Summit, PA; three granddaughters, Nicole Shewbridge Philpott, Casey Shewbridge, and Crystal Varkalis; and four great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two brothers, Aaron E. Green, Sr. and wife, Ruth; and Richard S. Green, and wife, Margie; three sisters, Ruth I. Perry and husband, Bufort; Evelyn C. Furry and husband, William; and Anna Mae Ott; and numerous nieces & nephews.
Marjorie was predeceased by her foster parents, Chester A. and Marjorie V. Miller of Frederick; and brother, Charles E. Green, Jr.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Graveside services will immediately follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery with Rev. Tim May officiating.
