Marjorie Jean Blakeney, 88, of State College, Pennsylvania, passed from this life on Wednesday, September 29, 2021. She was the wife of the late Ronald A. Blakeney who died in 2011.
Born on June 4, 1933, in Gap Mills, WV, she was the daughter of the late Patrick M. and Celia Martin Ryan.
She was a 1951 graduate of Gap Mill High School where she was class Valedictorian. She moved to Washington, DC where she met Ronald and began a career with the FBI. She became a homemaker and later Marjorie worked part time for KMart. She was a self taught piano player, loved to sing. Marjorie was a member of the First Christian Church at Brock Hall in Largo, MD where she sang in the church choir and taught Sunday School. She was an avid reader. Marjorie enjoyed sewing and taking walks with her husband and dog. She spent many years as a caregiver to family members and especially loved coloring and playing dolls with her grandchildren.
Surviving are three children: Richard Blakeney and wife Reba of Kutztown, PA, Linda Grosshans and husband Steven of State College, PA and Jean Martinho of Mt. Airy; four grandchildren: Ashley Blakeney, Abby Kayhart and husband Matt, Matthew Grosshans and Carly Martinho; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Marjorie was preceded in death by five siblings, Thelma, Wilber, Eula, Carl and Orpha; and her son-in-law Mario Martinho.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM on Tuesday, October 19, at First Christian Church at Brock Hall, 2400 Old Largo Road, Largo, MD 20772 where services will begin at 11:00 AM. Interment take place at 1:00 PM at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham, MD.
