Marion L. "Bim" Abrecht, Sr.

Marion L. "Bim" Abrecht Sr., 76, of Frederick, Maryland, passed from this life on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

Born on April 16, 1941, in Frederick, MD, he was the son of Walter R. and Margaret E. (Crutchley) Abrecht. His loving wife of nearly 50 years, Mary E. Abrecht, passed in 2012.

Bim was employed by Frederick Memorial Hospital retiring after 27 years of employment.

He was an avid Redskins fan, loved gardening and woodworking. Bim had a green thumb with tomato plants.

He is survived by his daughter, Margaret E. Kelly and fiance, Ken James of Frederick and his son, Marion L. "Bimmie" Abrecht, Jr. and wife, Kathy, of Woodsboro, Maryland; grandchildren, Lindsay M. Kelly and fiance, Mark Murphy, Richard H. Kelly and girlfriend, Rebecca Reigle, and Jason Ray Dorsey and wife, Katherine, all of Frederick; great-grandson, Trent; his godson, Cody Lippart; several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and nieces and nephews.

Bim was preceded in death by three brothers.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 40 Fulton Avenue in Walkersville, Maryland.

Graveside services and burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Frederick with Pastor Sarah Dorrence officiating,
