Mrs. Marion J. Martin, 89, of Sunrise Assisted Living of Frederick, died Friday, August 24, 2007 at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC. She was the wife of the late Julius Homer Martin.
Born on December 25, 1917 in Washington, DC she was the daughter of the late George Washington and Elizabeth McDonald Wisner She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
A homemaker, Marion was an artist who worked in ceramics, oil painting, and doll making. One of her greatest joys was gardening and growing many varieties of Iris flowers.
As a loving wife, mother and grandmother, she is survived by her three sons, Robert Martin of Frederick, Thomas Martin and wife Sally of Frederick, and Glenn Martin and wife Debbie of Middletown, VA; three grandchildren, Geoffrey Martin, Benjamin Martin and wife Darlene and Ashley Martin; three great grandchildren, Luke and Jenna Martin and Ayden Blackmer; she is also survived by three step grandchildren and their spouses and three nephews and their families. Marion will be fondly remembered by her life long friend, Ruth Heffernan and her dear companion, Donna Sommers.
Visitation: The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:30 until 9:00 p.m. at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD.
Services: Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Stauffer Funeral Home Chapel, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD with Rev. Gary Bilbie of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery at a later date.
