Marion Zook born Marion Edith Towles November 28, 1923 in Washington, D.C. She was the eldest daughter of the late George Edgar Towles, Sr. and Fern Edith Towles. She was preceded in death by a brother, George Edgar Towles, Jr. and a sister Fern Elizabeth Bishop. She was also preceded in death by three husbands Elmer Blair Hedrick, William C. McMillan and Carl Bentz Zook. She is survived by her niece Mary Anthony of Frederick and her husband Allen and their adult children A.J. Anthony of West Palm Beach, FL and Laura McClain of Wilcox, NE.
Mrs. Zook was a graduate of Roosevelt High Washington, D.C., Class of 1941. She worked for the CIA for nearly 30 years before retiring. After retirement she took care of her niece Mary that became like a daughter from an early age and they were inseparable.
Marion loved to travel, shop, sew, dance, play cards, bowl and play golf. She and her niece Mary spent summers together engaged together in all kinds of activities and travels. She will be missed deeply by Mary who became as devouted to Marion's care the past few years as Marion was to Mary in her growing up years. She was a tough old girl very opinionated but extremely loyal and caring.
I can't thank you enough Aunt Marion for loving and caring for me my whole life. Thank you for teaching me to speak up on behalf of others without a voice. I hope to honor you through serving others especially the elderly.
There will be a graveside service at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 13801 Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring at noon on Saturday, January 4, 2020. A memorial service is being planned at a later date.
