Marion Smith

Marion Elizabeth (Reeder) Smith , 83, of Hagerstown, Maryland, passed away on Monday, June 13, 2016, at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown.

Born on March 1, 1933, she was the daughter of Lester James and Mary Edna (Jones) Reeder. Her husband, Samuel V. Smith, preceded her in death in 2005.

Marion was a graduate of the Boonsboro High School Class of 1950.

She was employed as Sewing Operator with Beachley Furniture for 30 years, and for many years she owned Marion's Homemade Pocketbooks.

Marion was part of the Reeder Trio singing group.

She is survived by her sister, Mona Jean Adkins and husband Lee of Hagerstown; three nieces, Carolyn Roglowski of Florida, Kathy Shantz of Sharpsburg, Maryland, and Velesa Stevens of Smithsburg, Maryland; one nephew, Galen Reeder of Georgia; two great nieces to whom Marion was very close, Stephanie Dawn Shantz and Sarah Elizabeth Shantz; and her very dear friend and neighbor Esther Reynolds. She is also survived by five other great nieces; and three great nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Mervil J. Reeder, Glenn R. Reeder, Lester E. Reeder, Jr., and infant Herman Reeder.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2016, at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, Maryland. Rev. Randy Reid will officiate. Interment will follow at Boonsboro Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 17, 2016 at the funeral home.
