Marion Shirley MacLean Hearn, age 91, of Walkersville, MD, died peacefully, Monday, March 16, 2015, while holding her son’s hand.
Born October 2, 1923 in Long Beach, CA, she was the daughter of the late William Joseph and Hildred Evadna Peterson MacLean.
Marion was a 1941 graduate of Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn, New York and the Pratt Institute in 1945, also in Brooklyn, New York. She began her career as a commercial artist in NY City and later was an art therapist in the occupational therapy department at the Buffalo State Hospital and later at the Albany Hospital in Albany, NY.
Side by side, she worked with her son, as his partner, at his business, Atlantic Tent Rentals, for over 30 years.
Marion loved playing bridge with two bridge clubs for over 50 years. She played bridge with her very best friends, Dorie, Peg, Nancy, Lucy, Liza, Pat, Regina, June, Donna, Libby, Ceil and Mary. Shopping was also big on her list of things to do.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Henry James Hearn, Jr., September 7, 2011, after 60 years of marriage.
She is survived by her children, Henry J. Hearn, III, Wendy Hearn Plank and husband, Steve, and Melissa Hearn Clabaugh and husband, David, all of Walkersville; grandchildren, Sean Remsberg and wife, Carole, Brad Remsberg and wife, Julia, Ryan Clabaugh, Nick Clabaugh, Tyler Dixon and wife, Annie, and Kyle Dixon; great-grandchildren, Brianna, Leah and Penelope Remsberg.
Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, March 19, 2015 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 10 W. Pennsylvania Avenue, Walkersville, MD, with Pastor Mark Foucart officiating. Interment will be private.
