Marion Cresap

Mrs. Marion Ellen Cresap, 83, of Frederick, MD died Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at Frederick Memorial Hospital as a result of a stroke. She was the loving wife of the late George F. Cresap.

Born September 5, 1930 in Keyser, WV, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Alma Staggs Umstot.

Marion retired from the former Eyerly's Department Store after 19 years in the china department. She was a compassionate friend to many and currently volunteered her time to Daybreak Adult Day Services. For many years, she was active with the auxiliary at Northampton Manor Health Care Center. Marion loved to travel and made many wonderful friends with her travel groups. She was a devoted member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Frederick and a member of Wesleyn Circle and served on the We Care and Serve a Friend committees.

She is survived by two sons, Larry T. Cresap and wife, Susan B., of Charlottesville, VA, and Mark U. Cresap and wife, Vickie W., of Jefferson, MD; one daughter, Janine C. Woodward and husband, Thomas, of Boonsboro, MD; two grandchildren, Lee N. Woodward and wife, Alyssa, of Ridgeley, WV and Valerie N. Zeender and husband, Steve, of Baltimore, MD; one great-grandson, Jacob Jeffrey Zeender of Baltimore, MD; brother, Floyd Umstot Jr. and wife, Jean, of Cumberland, MD; sister, Carol Ann Price and husband, Bill, of Short Gap, WV; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by brothers, Harold B. Umstot and James Lee Umstot.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 25 at Calvary United Methodist Church, 131 W. Second Street, Frederick, MD 21701, with the family receiving friends from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Officiating will be the Rev. Alice Ford.

Interment to follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Frederick County, P.O. Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702, or to Calvary United Methodist Church at the above address.
