Marilyn Metcalfe

Mrs. Marilyn C. (Hamilton) Metcalfe,86 , of Frederick, MD passed away Monday, July 10, 2017. She was the beloved wife of Harvey G. Metcalfe and the late William J. Hamilton of Plainfield, NJ.

Born November 11, 1930 in Bayonne, NJ she was the daughter of the late John J. and Marion (Kilcoyne) Conway.

Marilyn retired from Rutgers University in 1995 and relocated to Frederick. As a young woman she worked at Societe Generale where she became fluent in French and developed a life long love of travel. She spent her volunteer time in Plainfield and Frederick serving people in need. She was given a volunteer recognition award by the Archdiocese of Baltimore in 2008.

In addition to her husband she is survived by her children Mary Ellen Mitchell of Frederick and Bill Hamilton and wife Lisa of NJ; and step-children Dan Metcalfe of Alexandria,VA Jim Metcalfe and wife Laura of Castle Rock,CO, Dave. Metcalfe and wife Kristina of Smithtown, NY, Mary Hall and husband Matthew of Green, SC, John Metcalfe of Brentwood,NY , fifteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Friday, July 14, 2017 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 15, at 11:30AM at St. Joseph- on- Carrollton Manor Catholic Church, 5843 Manor Woods Rd., Frederick.

Interment will be private.
