Marilyn June Leatherman Gaver

Marilyn June Leatherman Gaver, 89, of Myersville, passed away on April 9, 2025, at Citizens Care and Rehabilitation of Frederick. Born on August 1, 1935, near Myersville, she was the daughter of the late Edgar G. Leatherman and Edna (Brandenburg) Leatherman. Married on May 5, 1957, she was the wife of Eugene Gaver for 65 years.

Marilyn was a 1953 graduate of Middletown High School, and a 1954 graduate of Hagerstown Business College. She worked for several years at Fairchild Aircraft and also at Eisenhart Factory Store. She was a lifetime member of Grossnickle Church of the Brethren, where she served in many positions of teaching children, Vacation Bible School and in later years, on several commissions in the church. She enjoyed cooking, gardening of vegetables, tending her flowers and also crafting of many things.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters, Suzanne (Cary) Levitt and Marianne (Stephen) Abbs. She is also survived by grandsons, Jonas Stephen Abbs and Carson David Claras Levitt, and two great-grandsons, Everett Abbs and Bodie Abbs.

She was second mom to Andrea (Ken) Smith and Karen Tribett, from infancy to young teenagers whom she enjoyed very much.

She was the last of her immediate family, preceded in death by her siblings: Clarence Leatherman, Jane Delauter, Joyce Harshman, Ruth Palmer, Esther Holshouser and William Leatherman.

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 14, from 6 to 8 PM at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 15, at 11:00 AM, at Grossnickle Church of the Brethren, 11301 Meeting House Road, Myersville. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 AM, prior to the service. Final interment will be at Grossnickle Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Myersville.
