Mrs. Marie Buzzy Eckenrode, 46 of Walkersville, MD passed away on March 30, 2009, after a three and a half courageous battle with cancer, she passed away at her home with her family by her side. She was the wife of William (Tac) Eckenrode for 26 years.
Born February 15, 1963 in Washington, DC, she was raised by great grandparents, the late John E & Laura B. Biddinger. Biological mother Loretta K. Bragg of Virginia.
A graduate of Walkersville High School in 1981, Marie was employed by Citigroup of Frederick at the time of her illness. Her favorite trips were to Las Vegas and Myrtle Beach. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at the Walkersville Bowling Center.
Surviving besides her husband are two children: Pamela D. Barber and husband Christopher of Walkersville, and John A. Eckenrode of Walkersville; step grand daughter Megan Barber of Hagerstown; brother-in-laws, Jeffrey Eckenrode and wife Trudy of Pennsylvania, and Ernie Eckenrode of Ladiesburg; nieces and nephews, Daniel and Mary Rose Eckenrode, Jessica and Christopher Rivera, Heather Trogler and Ryan Goodman; devoted mother-in-law Ruby I. Eckenrode of Woodsboro; close friends Mariellen Rhodes of Woodsboro, Lynn and Pamela Delph of Frederick, Terry Perry of Frederick, George and Anastasia Spadacino of Walkersville and many friends. She will also be remembered by family members, Barbara and Rebekah Eckenrode.
She was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Randy Pere in 2004.
Visitation: The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont,MD.
Services: Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, April 2, 2009 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Charles Drenning officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Frederick with Ernest Schuley, David Reds Main, Christopher Kovarcik, Ernest Eckenrode, Wayne Lowe, William Rhodes, William Lockard and Randy Renner serving as pallbearers.
Memorial contributions may be made in Marie's name to the Regional Cancer Therapy Center, 501 West Seventh Street, Suite B, Frederick, MD 21701 or to Stauffer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1819, Frederick, MD 21702, to help defray final expenses.
