Marie Cordeiro

Mrs. Marie Barnum Cordeiro, 77, of Frederick, MD passed away Saturday, September 17, 2011 at her home. She was the beloved wife of the late John Vincent Cordeiro.

Born on August 30, 1934 in East Providence, RI she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Mary Rebello Barnum.

After high school Marie trained at the Women and Infants Hospital from 1952-1960 where she was certified as a Registered Medical Assistant in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Marie retired in 2000 after 40 years of service with Bayside OB/GYN. She also served as President for the Rhode Island Medical Assistance Association. After her retirement she volunteered in the post op and oncology at Rhode Island Hospital. Marie also enjoyed cooking and entertaining and most importantly spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her three children Michele Marie Wilt and husband Willard of Lewes, DE, Joanne Mary Cordeiro of Frederick, MD and John Vincent Cordeiro and wife Mary of Mt. Airy, MD; grandchildren Holly and Ashley Spaulding and Elizabeth and John Regis Cordeiro.

A Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at 10AM at Holy Family Catholic Community Church 7321 Burkittsville Rd., Middletown, MD. Monsignor Robert Jaskot will be the celebrant.

Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Providence, RI at a later date.
