Marian Roth

Mrs. Marian Jean Brown Roth, 89, of Frederick, MD., passed away, Thursday, September 22, 2011 at the Record Street Home, where she was a resident since 2001. She was the wife of the late John G. Roth.

Born October 3, 1921 in Hastings, PA. she was the daughter of the late Charles Edgar and Mabel Eleanor Harris Brown.

Mrs. Roth was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, the D.A.R. John Proctor Chapter (Altoona, PA), Order of The Eastern Star (Altoona), the Ladies Auxiliary to Mountain Commandery, No 10, Knights Templar, AARP and was an elder in the 3 ^rd Presbyterian Church (Altoona). She was a volunteer with Easter Seal Society. During 2 ^nd World War , she worked as a S enior S tenographer for the Executive Branch of the Adjutant Generals Office. She was a graduate of Altoona H.S. class of 1939 and the School of Commerce Class of 1940 in Altoona.

She is survived by her daughter Susan Roth Smyers of Williamsburg, VA, 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Robert J. Roth, her siblings Evelyn Baker, Harold Brown, Mildred Ruth Brown and Mabel Louise Brown. Her family is scattered in VA, WA, and OR.

A Memorial service will be held at Spring Ridge Clubhouse, 9090 Ridgefield Drive, Frederick, Maryland on Saturday, October 29, at 5:30 pm. A social gathering will follow.

Interment will be private.
