Marian Holmes

Mrs. Marian J. "Jean" Holmes, 93, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at Lorien Life Center, Mt. Airy. She was the devoted wife of the late Robert G. Holmes, Sr., who died in 1999. Born on September 8, 1922, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary Elizabeth Seifert Pentz. Marian, a homemaker, enjoyed going to the Mt. Airy Senior Center and was a member of the local Red Hat Society.
Surviving are three children: Robert G. Holmes, Jr. (Paula) of Westminster, Thomas J. Holmes (Mary) of Perry Hall, and Barbara Turkel (Steven), seven grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Hobbs.
The family will receive friends from 3-5 and 7-9 PM on Saturday, March 26, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 28, at St. Michaels' Catholic Church at Poplar Springs, 1125 St. Michael's Rd., Mt. Airy with Rev. Michael J. Ruane as celebrant. Entombment will follow in Loudon Park Cemetery, Baltimore. Memorial Contributions may be made to Carroll Hospice Inc., 292 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, MD, 21157.
