Maria L. Mendez

Maria L. Mendez, 83, of Harpers Ferry, WV. formerly of New York died on Saturday June 21, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Oscar Mendez.
Born on March 4, 1925 in Puerto Rico she was the daughter of the late Diego and Maria Santiago Miranda.
In 1951 she moved to Bronx , NY were she was a seamstress and helped her husband in his womens clothing store. She later became a hairdresser. In 1996 she moved to Massapequa, NY. In 2007 she moved to be with her daughter in West Virginia.
Surviving are three children Luisa Little and husband Stephen of Harpers Ferry, WV, Oscar Mendez Jr. of Hagerstown and Lydia Hewitt and husband Arthur of Massapequa, NY. Grandchildren Philip Little, Michelle Nudd, Oscar Mendez III, Michael Hewitt, Christopher Hewitt and Sandra Fernandez. Great Grandchildren Elaine Little, Grace Little, Samuel Little, Ethan Nudd, Ivan Nudd, Jessica Hewitt, Brian Hewitt, Sophia Borga, Gabriella Borga, Dylan Owens, Tyler Owens and Kylie Fernandez. Sister Luz Alvarado and Brother Eugenio Miranda. Former daughter in law Camelia Torre.
Visitation: Interment will be private.
Services: Friends may call on Monday June 23, 2008 from 4-5pm where funeral services will be held at 5:00pm at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, Maryland.
