Ms. Margarita Sweet, 69, passed away at home with family by her side. She was born on March 7, 1942 in Bolivia , South America and grew up in Cochabamba .
She started her travels to La Paz , became a nanny and her travels continued to the United States . She made a new home in Washington D. C., met her husband, and had two children that she devoted her life to. She resides in Brunswick , MD for the last 20 yearsand also spent time in Keymar , MD where she enjoyed the open fields and farmland. She was the mom that always had a car full of kids heading to ball games, majorettes or some other function, and she loved it. She’ll always be remembered for her chocolate chip cookies and Christmas time.
Margarita worked at Hood College and Marriott Food Services for many years. Again, she loved to be around the kids and enjoyed the students that spoke to her in Spanish. She enjoyed her friends at work and made life long friendships. She retired from Hood College several years ago and enjoyed being with her family and dear friends. Hobbies included cooking, gardening and knitting but she really enjoyed her collection of Elvis memorabilia. Retirement gave her time to travel and a chance to enjoy Graceland .
Just a short time ago she started enjoying her first grandchild. She loved being grandma and spoiling her ‘precious girl’
Margarita is survived by her two children and their families, James Sweet with fiancée Jeri Shelton and Jennifer and Ken Kurtz Jr. She has one granddaughter, Eva and four more soon to be grandchildren, Brandon, Bridgette, Brooke and Breanna(they were already family to her). She is also survived by her sister and husband, Paulina, Sohan and three nieces, Patricia, Tania and Brenda, and there families. She will also be missed by her dearest friends Mr. Mrs. Heredia.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday September 13, from 7-9pm at the Stauffer Funeral Home, P. A., 1621 Opposumtown Pike, Frederick where services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday September 14, The Reverend Tim May will officiate. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery .
