Margaret (Maggi) Morin

d. August 10, 2011

Margaret (Maggi) Schwartz Morin, 65, passed away Aug 10, 2011, at home in Frederick, MD, after a 2-year battle with brain cancer. Maggi was supported at home by Hospice of Frederick County for the last few months. Maggi was born July 31 1946 in Washington DC, was raised and completed high school in Aberdeen, MD and attended the University of Maryland.  Maggi married Captain Dennis Morin March 22, 1970 in Aberdeen, and, after multiple moves in the US and overseas, finally settled in Rockville, MD in 1985. Maggi and Dennis moved to Frederick, MD in 2002, where they were joined by her parents, Leo and Juliet (Julie) Schwartz in 2003. Maggi was the caregiver for both, until Julie’s death in Oct 2006 and Leo’s death in May 2008. Maggi is survived by Dennis, son Ari David and wife Jenifer Lynn (Gerber), and grandson Jake Leland of Leesburg, VA. Maggi also leaves brothers Eric B. Schwartz of Port Deposit, MD and Sam H. Schwartz of Egg Harbor TW, NJ. Maggi had a life-long involvement with youth, especially at-risk youth initiatives.  Earning a degree in Criminal Justice in CA, and with advanced studies in Criminal Justice, Maggi applied her early experience in neighborhood youth summer programs and her professional education in developing youth intervention programs, and community and school counseling and guidance programs. Maggi added youth sports programs, including several years as a baseball coach for high school summer league in Rockville, to a lifelong passion for sports and her beloved Baltimore Colts (and later Ravens) and her Baltimore Orioles. And Maggi had a lifelong interest in photography; her home filled with her work. To all the winter baseball cruise mates for many years, and to all who joined and supported Maggi’s Journey for the last two years – you know she did it her way.
The Memorial Service will be @ the Wormans Mill Community Club House Sun, Aug 28 from 2:00 - 5:00 PM.
Memorials in Maggi’s name may be sent to Hospice of Frederick County, 516 Trail Ave., PO Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702, http://www.hospiceoffrederick.org/ or to your local Hospice.
