Margaret E. {Hargett} Lewis

Mrs. Margaret E. ( Hargett ) Lewis, 90, of Middletown, died on Monday, January 19, 2009 at Kline Hospice House. She was the wife of the late Herbert D. Lewis.

Born on June 25th, 1918 in Baltimore, she was a daughter of the late Edgar S. and Beatrice M. ( Houff ) Hargett.

Mrs. Lewis was a member of Christ Reformed United Church of Christ, Middletown. She along with her husband owned and managed Lewis's Grocery Store, Frederick. She was also employed with the Frederick Tailoring Company and the Meridian Nursing Home. Mrs. Lewis devoted much of her life to raising foster children, which she enjoyed very much.

Surviving are two daughters; Patricia Y. and husband Donald Wiles, Sr. of Myerville, Vickie M. Bell and husband Robert of Jefferson, a foster son Richard A. Knott and wife Pauline of Walkersville, eleven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two step-grandsons, three step-great-grandchildren. She will also be remembered by her loving care-giver and granddaughter Ashley. Family wishes to thank and acknowledge Hospice of Frederick County for their care.

She was preceded in death by two brothers; Arthur S. and James E. Hargett and a sister Mary R. Zimmerman.

Visitation: Family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, on Friday, January 23rd, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Services: Services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Mark Wakefield and Rev. Guy Wenck officiating. Interment in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
