Mrs. Margaret Virginia Bouey Smith, 86, of Emmitsburg, MD died March 5, 2015. Born November 3, 1928, she was the daughter of the late James E. and Blanche M. (Hartdagen ) Bouey. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Francis E. Smith, daughters Denise Lupp (John), Littlestown, PA, Marjorie Root (Steve Schaeffer), New Market, MD, grandchildren Jennifer Bolin (Andrew), Hanover, PA, Sarah Lupp, Littlestown, PA, Nikolas Root, New Market, MD, great-grandson Heath Bolin, Hanover, PA, a sister M. Isabel Bouey, Emmitsburg, MD, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers J. Allen Bouey, Eugene F. Bouey, and sister Eunice M. Neighbours.
Margaret graduated from St. Joseph’s High School, Emmitsburg, MD and spent her life working for the Daughters of Charity at St. Joseph College and St. Joseph’s Provincial House. She was a member of the Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Emmitsburg Homemakers Club, and VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Margaret enjoyed reading, movies, shopping, and dining out. She was a member of St. Joseph Parish, Emmitsburg. Viewing will be held at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main St., Thurmont, MD, Monday, March 9, 2015 from 3:00-5:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm. Rosary will be said at 7:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, March 10 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 47 DePaul St., Emmitsburg, MD, at 10:00 a.m. with interment at the new St. Joseph’s cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
