Margaret Sites

November 19, 1925 — April 19, 2014

Margaret M. (Zimmerman) Sites, 89, of Hagerstown, Maryland, passed from this life on the 19th of April, 2014 at Fahrney-Keedy Home & Village in Boonsboro, Maryland.

Born on November 19, 1925, in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Edith (Tice) Zimmerman.  Her husband, George A. Sites, preceded her in death in 1977.

Margaret earned her Bachelor's Degree from Hood College in Frederick, Maryland where she was the oldest graduate of Hood College at age 64.  She also had attended Brigham Young University.

She was a civilian employee with the Federal Government for 30 years, having worked as a secretary at Ft. Ritchie, Ft. Detrick and also in Washington, DC.

Margaret was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa M. Leisinger and husband Rhett of Hagerstown; two sons, Mark A. Sites and wife Marianne of Greencastle, Pennsylvania, and Douglas K. Sites and wife Terri of Orem, Utah; thirteen grandchildren, Rachael, Marcie, Jacob, Caleb, Zachary, Benjamin, Nicole, Janet, Douglas II, Kelly, Ginny, Julie and Kevin; and ten great-grandchildren, Annalise, Kaanan, Leland, Kael, Karis, Akata, Akanisi & Aisea, Sarah and Tychus.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Vera Lake.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1253 Mount Aetna Road in Hagerstown where the funeral ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 25, 2014.  Bishop Greg Harman will officiate.  Final resting place ceremonies will follow at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery in Clear Spring, Maryland.

Flowers may be delivered on Thursday to the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro, Maryland.  The family also has requested that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Post Office Box 96011, Washington, DC, 20090.
