Margaret Lucas

Mrs. Margaret Mary Reynolds Lucas, 97, of Frederick, died Saturday, April 29, 2017 at her home. She was the wife of the late, Ray A. Lucas, who predeceased her on August 9, 1994.

Margaret was a World War II Army Nurse who met her husband while caring for him as a wounded D-Day soldier.

She later worked as an oncology nurse for over 30 years in Dayton, Ohio prior to retiring. She established the first hospice in Dayton.

Margaret is survived by twin daughters, Mary Colanero and husband, Al, of Summerfield, NC, and Margaret Anne "Maggie" Sayre of Frederick; five grandchildren, Rachel Webster (Cameron); Alfred Colanero; Regina Colanero; Michael Colanero (Randi Love Colanero); and Matthew A. L. Sayre (Julie Elizabeth Sayre); five great-grandchildren, Annabelle Webster, Theresa Colanero, Jacob and Julia Colanero, and Jackson Sayre.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Michael Lucas, and many additional family members.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 10 at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church,  8428 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.

Interment will be private.
