Margaret Myers

Margaret Louise Myers, a loving and devoted mother, passed from this life on December 10, 2012.

Born on September 12, 1921, in Boonsboro, Maryland, she was the youngest daughter of Roger and Eleanora (Easterday) Sinnisen. She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard R. Sinnisen and her sister, Elizabeth J. Sinnisen Kendle.
Margaret started school at age four, graduated from Boonsboro High School at age sixteen and was an avid reader and crossword puzzle enthusiast. A caring and kind person, Margaret aspired to help those in need and was always there for her family. Her work ethic was second to none and she passed the importance of working hard along to her children and grandchildren. She also passed along a wicked sense of humor and a willingness to always look on the bright side of life.
Margaret had worked at Porter Chemical Company, Hagerstown Leather Co. and Maryland Ribbon Co. until her retirement in 1989.
She was an active member of Benevola United Methodist Church, assisting behind the scenes with many church activities.
Margaret was also preceded in death by husbands, Carl L. Byrd and Herbert S. Myers. She will be greatly missed by her children, Carla L. (Byrd) Kann and husband George, Carl L. Byrd, Jr. and wife Becky, and Jane M. Henson and partner Frank Smith. She is also survived by grandchildren, Valerie L. Kann and husband Mike Gibson, Kevin L. Dayhoff and partner Desi Bonebrake, Christopher A. Dayhoff, Alexander C. Byrd and Sarah K. Byrd. Great-grandchildren include Breana Dayhoff, Karoline Dayhoff and Jack Kann Gibson.
Services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Benevola United Methodist Church, 19925 Benevola Church Road, Boonsboro, Maryland. Rev. John H. Dean will officiate. Immediately following the service, the family will have a time of friendship and fellowship in the church hall. Final resting place ceremonies will be at 3 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery in Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, Maryland.
In accordance with Margaret's wishes, please make donations to Breast Cancer Awareness-Cumberland Valley, 322 East Antietam Street, Suite 101, Hagerstown, Maryland, 21740, Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Avenue, Hagerstown, Maryland, 21742, or The Humane Society of Washington County, 13011 Maugansville Road, Hagerstown, Maryland, 21740 in lieu of flowers. The family would like to thank Dr. Bradford, Dr. Hamilton and the staff of Williamsport Nursing Home for their care and support.
