Margaret Lach

Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth Killian Lach, 95, passed away on Friday, October 28, 2011 at Lorien in Mt. Airy .

Born July 9, 1916 in Brimfield , MA , she was the daughter of the late Thomas Eugene and Bridget Gertrude Murray Killian.

After graduating from Hitchcock Academy , Brimfield , MA in 1933, Margaret was employed for five years in the Statistical Department of the American Optical Company, Southbridge , MA . She was a homemaker for most of her married life; lived in Mt. Airy since 1957; was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church; enjoyed reading and music - especially the piano and organ; and was the last of her immediate family.

Margaret was preceded in death in 2006 by her husband Henry Lach to whom she was married for 69 years.

Surviving are five children. John Lach of Blackfoot, ID; Robert Lach and wife Rebecca of Mt. Airy, MD; Carol Lake and husband Douglas of McLean, VA; William Lach and wife Patricia of Frederick, MD; and Richard Lach of Mt. Airy, MD; eleven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and two great-great- grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 East Ridgeville Blvd. , Mt. Airy on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 , from 7-9 PM .

A short service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 , at the Stauffer Funeral Home with burial immediately following at Pine Grove Cemetery , Mt. Airy .

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mt. Airy Volunteer Fire Company Ambulance Fund, 702 N. Main St., Mt. Airy, MD 21771 or St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 1125 St. Michael’s Rd., Mt. Airy, MD 21771.
