Margaret Marie Jones

Margaret Marie Jones, 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 13, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Washington, D.C., Margaret led a life full of devotion, love, and adventure.

A graduate of Montgomery Blair High School, Margaret also took classes at Montgomery College. She dedicated 20 years of service as a secretary for the Army, supporting the Command Staff at Harry Diamond Laboratories. Following her retirement, she relocated to Frederick, Maryland, where she became an active member of St. Timothy’s Parish in Walkersville. Her faith was central to her life, and she contributed to the church through work on various committees and her role as a Eucharistic minister.

Margaret was a devoted wife to her high school sweetheart, Tex, with whom she shared many cherished years of love and partnership.

Known for her quick wit and independent spirit, Margaret brought joy and laughter to everyone who knew her. She embraced life with passion and curiosity, exploring diverse interests. Margaret was an avid bridge player, a member of the Junior Women’s Club, a bowler, and even took flying lessons. Her love of genealogy led her to proudly join the Jamestowne Society, where she uncovered her family’s deep historical roots.

Above all, Margaret cherished her role as a mother, raising her three children-Deborah, Richard, and Marshall-with strength and love as a single parent for much of their lives. She was a proud and dedicated grandmother to five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Margaret had a lifelong love for sports and could often be found cheering on the Washington Redskins, the Maryland Terrapins, and the Washington Nationals, rarely missing a game.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, December 23 at 10:30 am at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church, 8651 Biggs Ford Road, Walkersville. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St Timothy’s Parish.
