Margaret Madeline Hines, age 94, of Westminster, MD passed away peacefully on July 27, 2024 where she was living at Carroll Lutheran Village while surround by loving family and friends. Margaret also known as Pat, was born June 8th, 1930 to Samuel and Sadah Long.
Pat, spent her early childhood in Thurmont MD, graduated from Thurmont High and went into the workplace as a seamstress. She met Vernon after his return from WWII. They began their married life together moving from place-to-place building toward a life of farming and having a family of three children, one girl and two boys.
Pat and Vernon (Bud) began married life in Rocky Ridge, then moved to their first farm in Sabillasville, later returning to Rocky Ridge to a larger farm and lived most of their lives together farming and milking a herd of Holstien cows. After retiring they left the farm, and lived largely in Thurmont MD, enjoying life and their loving family, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and friends. Pat enjoyed life and while being a mother, home-maker and full-time farming, she was an active member of the Lions Club, and Tom’s Creek Church. Pat loved to volunteer at Graceham Moravian Church with their annual Oyster and Turkey dinners. Also, at Mother Seton, caring for the elderly. Pat lived out her final years at Carroll Lutheran Village in Westminster MD.
Pat and Bud had three children, Vivian, Michael and Russell. Five Grand Children Heather, Stacy, Chris, Seth and Megan. Pat also has numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Pat is survived by her sister Joyce and sister-in-law Susie. Pat’s beloved husband Bud and loving daughter Vivian pre-deceased her. Pat also leaves behind many other much-loved relatives, friends and neighbors.

Pat’s Celebration of Life Memorial will be held Saturday August 17, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E Main St, Thurmont, MD 21788. An opportunity for family and friends to gather will be immediately following the memorial at Stauffer’s. Interment is limited to family, at Graceham Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be offered to the family at www.StaufferFuneralHome.com.
