Margaret Smith

Margaret E. Smith, 103, of Mount Airy, passed from this life on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Kline Hospice House in Mount Airy, MD.

Born on December 19, 1913, in Clinton, MD, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Mary Magdaline (Baden) Unkle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer L. Smith, May 17, 1971.

Margaret was a member of the St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church near Libertytown.

She retired from the federal government and from APWU.

Margaret enjoyed her family who were the most important thing to her.

She is survived by sons, Dennis G. Smith and wife, Sallie, of Mt. Airy and David L. Smith, Sr. of Berkeley Springs, WV; numerous grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and numerous other extended family members.

The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Monday, February 13, 2017 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 East Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 13th at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 9190 Church Street in Union Bridge, MD. Rev. Jason Worley will officiate. Interment will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday following Mass at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Suitland, MD.
