Margaret Ellen (Hawes) DiPaolo, a beloved soul known for her warmth and kindness, departed peacefully on April 30, 2024, at her home in Frederick, MD. Born on December 8, 1918, in Lovettsville, VA, Margaret's life blossomed into a tapestry of love and grace over the span of 105 years and 5 months.
Margaret was a woman of many passions, from being an avid reader to finding solace in sewing. She took joy in reading comic strips, immersing herself in classical and gospel music, nurturing her garden, especially her roses, and above all else, cherishing her family with unwavering devotion. Her vibrant spirit touched all those around her.
In August 28, 1954, Margaret joined hands in matrimony with Alberico (Alec) DiPaolo. Their union was one of profound love and joy until Alec's passing in 1967 due to cancer. Their bond remained unbreakable even beyond his departure.
Margaret's presence illuminated the lives of many. She was a beacon of non-judgmental love and positivity, earning her the reputation of 'the little engine that could'. Her unwavering faith as a devout Christian was unwavering as she often expressed gratitude saying "God has been so good".
Her journey came full circle as she transitioned to be with Jesus at her home in Frederick. Margaret leaves behind cherished memories for her surviving family including stepson Bernard DiPaolo "Bernie" and wife Mary; nephew James "Jim" Gregg; niece Frances V. Rice; niece Mary B. Gregg; along with numerous nieces and nephews who will forever carry her light in their hearts.
In the fond memories shared by those who knew her best, Margaret's proudest accomplishment was being a steadfast Christian who embraced life with open arms. Her bond with nephew James "Jim" Gregg was a testament to enduring companionship lasting 57 remarkable years filled with love and warmth within their shared home.
Among those welcoming Margaret into eternity are her beloved husband Alberico B. DiPaolo "Alec", father Charles Rutherford Hawes, mother Rosa Belle Riley, brothers Paul Thomas Hawes, Joseph Arlington Hawes, Charles Henry Hawes, George Washington Hawes; sister Mabel Irene Hawes-Burdette; sister Helen Virginia Staub; sister Mary Elizabeth Gregg; and three nephews.
A visitation honoring Margaret's remarkable life will be held at Stauffer Funeral Home-Frederick on May 6th from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM followed by a Funeral Service from 2:30 PM. Pastor Donald Kretzer, Sr. will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Frederick, MD. In honor of Margaret's legacy of love and resilience may we find solace in the memories she crafted with heartwarming grace that shall forever resonate within us.
