Margaret M. Butler, 73, of Mt. Airy, MD, passed away Friday, September 18, 2015 at her home.
Born December 12, 1941 in Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Blanche (Allison) and Lawrence Washington Carter, Sr. Her husband, John H. Butler, preceded her in death in 2003.
She was a member of the Redeeming River Church in Woodbine, MD.
Mrs. Butler was retired from Craftsman's Press in Cheverly, MD, after 40 years of employment.
She is survived by daughters, Phyllis B. Hortie and husband, Ronald, of New Market, MD and Deborah M. Rogers and husband, Michael, of Mt. Airy; son, John A. "Tony" Butler and significant other, Laurie Beck, of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Michael Hortie and wife, Ashley, John Hortie and wife, Jennifer, Jacqueline Hortie and husband, Robert Voigt, Shawn Flanigan and husband, Brian, and Colin Rogers; great-grandchildren, Samantha, Aubrey, Annabelle, Cheyenne, Brooke and Charlotte; sisters, Pat Woodward of Sterling, VA and Doris Jean Butler of Jacksonville, FL.
Mrs. Butler was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Renee Butler; brothers, James Carter, Daniel Carter and Lawrence Carter, Jr.; and sisters, Georgia Herndon, Edith Grimes, Arvilla Drummond and Catherine Carter.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 7 - 9 p.m. Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Boulevard in Mt. Airy.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 23rd at the Stauffer Funeral Home in Mt. Airy with Pastor Diggs officiating. Private burial will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
