Margaret Barton

Mrs. Margaret Patricia (Pat) Barton passed away peacefully February 28th.  Pat was born in Cumberland Maryland on March 17th 1936 during the Cumberland St. Patrick’s Day Flood to Lawrence Andrew and Margaret Lucille Lindner.  Raised on the family farm Pat had 5 younger siblings Rosemarie and her husband Mathew R. (deceased) Murray, Lawrence Joseph (deceased) and his wife Shirley Lindner, James Edward and his wife Barbara Lindner, Kathleen Yvonne (deceased) and her husband Edward (deceased) Barley, and sister B. Anne (Lindner) Bennett,.  Pat had 14 nieces and nephews who loved her very dearly as Aunt Patsy.

Graduating from Ursuline Academy Pat attended Cathermans Business School.  After business school Pat became a dental assistant and met the love of her life Franklin Barton who faked a tooth ache to meet her.  Pat and Frank were married December 15th 1956.  Starting in Cumberland Pat and Frank moved to the Frederick area where they lived the remainder of their lives.  They had two children a daughter Vera Lucile and her husband John Demeduk, who dearly loved and selflessly cared for Pat, and a son Christian Wells and his wife Joanna Barton.  They also have two wonderful grandchildren Jordan Eileen and Jacob Weller Barton.

As her second career Pat worked for Frederick County public schools as a driver education teacher, she loved her program and her coworkers and worked there until it was discontinued.

Frank passed away on August 1st 2005 after 49 years of marriage.  For the last 5 years Pat lived at Country Meadows where she continued to see old friends and make wonderful new ones.

Margaret above all else was a devote Christian and is at last in heaven with all who waited for her.

The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick  on Tuesday, March 1, from 6 – 9:00 pm.  Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 112 E. 2nd St., Frederick  on Wednesday, March 2, at 11:00 am.
