Margaret Ann Fritz

Margaret Ann Fritz of Mt. Airy passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023.

Born on October 21, 1935; she was born and raised in Mount Airy. She graduated from Mount Airy High School in 1953 as valedictorian. She entered the School of Nursing in September 1953 and graduated from Frederick Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1956 as a Registered Nurse.

She did clinical work in pediatrics, psychiatry, and public health at Children’s Hospital in Washington, Enoch and Sheppard Pratt Hospital, Towson, and the Frederick County Health Department. She received the Thomas H. Legg award for having an all-around wholesome personality and a record of outstanding performance in the theory and practice of nursing. She graduated from Hood College in 1964. She worked at the Frederick Memorial Hospital until 1964 then taught in the Johns Hopkins’ School of Nursing for two years. In 1975 she received a master’s degree in library science from Catholic University. From 1967 until her retirement in 1996 she was a Subject Specialist in the Business, Science, and Technology Department at Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore. 

She was inducted into the Mount Airy Hall of Fame in 2007. She was a life member of the Calvary Methodist Mount Airy. She loved gardening and walking her border collie Chole.

Graveside service and interment will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, October 26 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 515 S. Market Street, Frederick, MD 21701.
