Marcella Mills
February 17, 1933 — July 24, 2018
Mrs. Marcella B. Mills, 85, of Sharpsburg and formerly of Frederick, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, July 24, 2018.
Born February 17, 1933 in Greene County, PA., she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Helen (Kolenkovich) Bierer.
Marcella was the former wife of the late Gene Thomas Mills of Morgantown, WV, former Executive Editor of the Frederick News Post for 20 years. They made their home in Frederick in 1968, and they enjoyed being very active and social in the Frederick community.
She loved to play bingo, gamble, attend auctions, antiquing, and was a former member of the Eastern Star and the Sertoma Club. She loved her family very much, and times spent with them were most precious to her.
She is survived by six children, Lyn M. Nelson and husband, Skip, of Las Vegas, NV; Pam J. Hurwitz and husband, Danny, of Rohrersville; David T. Mills, II, and significant other, Annette Mellott, of Frederick; Rick W. Mills and significant other, Liz Vernon, of Florida; Jodi S. Schreck and husband, Mitchell, of New Market; and Teri S. MacDonald and husband, Angus, of Sharpsburg; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; her best friend and sister, Paulette Emslie of Arizona; two brothers, David and Richard Bierer both of Pennsylvania; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
Marcella was predeceased by a daughter, Toni Mills; a grandson, Malcolm Scates; and infant twins.
The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. with Rev. Tim May officiating.
Interment to follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
