Marcell Gourley

Transferred from the joy of his Lord and Savior on earth to the glory of his Heavenly Father in heaven, Marcell Michael Gourley left us on March 2, 2013 after an amazingly brave and arduous battle with cancer. He was the loving husband and best friend of Tanya Sue Roberts Gourley.
Born October 13, 1956 in Germantown, he was the son of Dolores Taddeucci Gourley and the late Lawrence Gourley.
Marcell enjoyed refinishing oak furniture, a hobby that he perfectly mastered. He was a workaholic by nature, and this was evident in the family beach home that he worked diligently on for eight years.
He began working at the age of 16 as a plumber. He worked for Washington, DC Plumbers Union Local No. 5 for many years. Marcell enjoyed Nascar Racing and was a Tony Stewart fan. He also was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his stepson, Jack; his brothers Arthur, Lawrence and Kenneth Gourley; his devoted sister, Orlanda Gourley Martens; along with many nieces and nephews, and of course his buddy, "Willie G".
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, March 8, 2013 at Montgomery United Methodist Church, 28325 Kemptown Road, Damascus, MD 20872. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 9 at the church. Officiating will be Rev. Bud Kibbe.
Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marcell's memory to Montgomery Hospice Casey House, 6001 Muncaster Mill Rd, Rockville, MD 20855.
