ManFred Max "Fred" Palm, age 72, of 2519 Chestnut Grove Road, Sharpsburg, MD, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2008, at his home.
Born March 3, 1936 in Duesseldorf, Germany, he was a son of the late Alfred Magnus and Margarete Ida Baumbach Palm.
Fred had formerly been employed in electric motor maintenance and repair, Rodell Studio, Maryland Public Television and retired from the National Park Service in Harpers Ferry, WV.
He was a member of Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church Praise Team in Boonsboro.
Fred is survived by his wife, Shirley Joyce Deavers Palm, whom he married on Sept. 15, 1956; one son, Jeffrey W. Palm and wife Shari of Keedysville, MD; one daughter, Melissa A. Dougall and husband David of Bloomington, IL; one brother, Herbert C. Palm Sr. of Frederick, MD; four grandchildren, Andrea L. Horton and husband Zach of Keedysville, Brad E. Palm of Seattle, Wash., and Kristin N. Dougall and Jessica L. Dougall, both of Bloomington; and two great-grandchildren, Mia G. Horton and Dylan J. Horton.
A memorial service will be held 1 P.M. Monday at Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church. The Rev. Robert G. Brennan Jr. will officiate. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing or visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church, building fund, 134 S. Main St., Boonsboro, MD 21713.
