Manard Lamar (Lee) Ellis

Mr. Manard Lamar Lee Ellis, 73, of Frederick died on Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at his residence. He was husband of Genevieve Runkles Ellis, his wife of 27 years.

Born on March 26, 1933, in North Holston, VA, he was the son of the late Graham and Gracie May Nichols Ellis. He was a baptized member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Utica. Lee spent most of his life driving trucks and was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed woodworking projects and playing country music on his guitar.

Surviving in addition to his wife are 7 children: Debbie Cross and husband Eric of Ocala, FL, Marie Baer and friend Rick Stull of Fairfield, PA, Carolyn Bledsoe and husband Mark of Tampa, FL, Randy Ellis and wife Bonnie of Jefferson, MD, Connie Hasty of Jefferson, Brenda Crites and husband Mackie of Moorefield, WV and Kevin Thompson and wife Robin of Chilhowie, VA; 15 grandchildren: Kristen Hernandez of Deltona, FL, Angie Peiper and husband Russell of Tampa, FL, Brandon White of California, Julie Bridges and husband Jimmy of Lewistown, Cassie Baer and friend Donald Bridges of Hagerstown, Cory Baer and friend Lisa of Fairfield, PA, Shaun Baumgardner, Heather Baumgardner and friend Tony of Poolesville, Samantha Ellis, Jacob Ellis, Matthew Hasty and Sarah Hasty all of Jefferson, Luke Crites and fiance Marsha of Romney, WV, Bo Crites of Moorefield, WV and Jacob Thompson of Chilhowie VA; 6 great grandchildren; 3 step-children: Wayne Putman and wife Pat of lewistown, Dan Putman and wife Lucille of Lewistown and Jeanne Cross and husband Larry of Middletown; 7 step-grandchildren: Tammy Comstock of Brunswick, Tim Cross and wife Stephany of Janesville, IA, Lauri Wilhelm and husband Matt of Mt. Airy, Jenni Engen and husband Don of Edmonton, Canada, Michael Cross and wife Janet of Augusta, GA, Julianna Cross of Middletown and Matthew Cross of Provo, UT and 9 step-great grandchildren; 4 half sisters: Charlotte Poston and husband Sam, Mary Hart and Mary Josephine all of Marion, Va, and Pansy of Martinsburg, WV; 7 half brothers: Graham Ellis, Richard Ellis, Robert Ellis, Bobby Ellis, Jimmy Ellis, Roger Ellis and Coolidge Ellis all of Marion VA; brother-in-law, Donald Runkles and wife Laura of Lewistown, former wife and good friend Shirley Yoe of Hagerstown, brother-in-law, Hubert Sexton of Tazwell, VA, sister-in-law Nancy Ellis of Bristol, VA, uncle Raymond Nichols of Chilhowie, VA, step-mother, Josephine Ellis of Chilhowie, VA, and special friend Billy Carter of Saltville, VA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Ellis was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Ellis and a sister, Jane Sexton.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 3-5 and 7-9 PM on Thursday, January 18, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.

Services: Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 19, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 10625 Old Frederick Rd., Utica with Rev. William M. Bucher officiating.
Interment will take place in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick with Randy Ellis, Shaun Baumgardner, Brandon White, Luke Crites, Bo Crites and Greg Armentrout serving as pallbearers, and Cory Baer, honorary bearer.
