Mabel M. {Sue} Molesworth

May 27, 1924 — June 20, 2008

Mrs. Mabel M. Sue Molesworth, 84, of Mt. Airy died on Friday, June 20, 2008, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

She was the wife of Harold M. Mac Molesworth, her husband of 62 years.

Born on May 27, 1924, in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Henry C. and Mabel D. Molesworth Krantz. Sue graduated from the Frederick Visitation Academy and went to Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Baltimore, graduating in 1944. She worked there as a R.N. and later at Springfield State Hospital in Sykesville. Sue also volunteered for the Graduate Nurse Corp during WWII, but the war ended before she was able to serve.

She was a charter member of the Mt. Airy American Legion, Gold Star Post 191, Auxiliary in 1954; and served as it's second president from 1955-56. Sue was also a past president of the Carroll County Mental Health Association; and was a member and past officer of the Mt. Airy Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary. She was a founding member of the Mt. Airy Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and attended their 50th reunion a few weeks ago. She was an active member of St. Michael's Catholic Church for more than 70 years, where she especially enjoyed working Bingo. Sue enjoyed being a volunteer; loved to travel, was a member of the Damascus Travel Club, and was an excellent seamstress; but most of all was a special wife, mother and grandmother.

Surviving in addition to her husband are 5 children: Jim Molesworth and wife Elaine, Richard Puddy Molesworth and wife Kris, Joanne Beazell and husband Randy all of Mt. Airy, Rita Wilkerson and husband Dave of Damascus and Trish Southworth and husband Jim of Mt. Airy; 16 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Mrs Molesworth was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Joseph Krantz and Henry C. Krantz.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Monday, June 23, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd. in Mt. Airy.

Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 24, at St. Michael's Catholic Church at Poplar Springs, 1125 St. Michael's Rd., Mt. Airy with Rev. Michael J. Ruane as Celebrant.
Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Mt. Airy.
