Mabel Etta Criswell

Mabel Etta Criswell, 59, of Hagerstown and formerly of Boonsboro, passed from this life on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at her home in Hagerstown.

Born on June 12, 1951, in Arlington, Virginia, she is the daughter of Marjorie Annadean (Mitchell) Criswell of Boonsboro, and the late Edward Calvin Criswell.

Mabel attended the Harmony Grove School (now known as Rock Creek School) in Frederick, Maryland.

After her schooling, Mabel was employed with the Jeanne Bussard Training program in Frederick, Maryland, where she did embossing and labeling.

She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Boonsboro, and was a participant in the Easter Seals in Hagerstown.

Mabel enjoyed spending time sewing and crocheting.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her sister, Kathleen E. and her husband, Jim Shankle of Middletown, Maryland; her two brothers, James E. Criswell of Cavetown, Maryland and Ronald E. Criswell of Hagerstown; one nephew, Jason Shankle; one niece, Jennifer and her husband Jerry Ross; a great-niece, Miranda Shankle; and a great-nephew, Joshua Shankle.  She is also survived by her special friend, Chantel Chirette, and many, many other friends.

A memorial celebration service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, Maryland.  Rev. Joseph I. Donovan, III will officiate. Final resting place ceremonies will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.
