Mrs. Lynn L. Stuart passed away peacefully on August 28, 2012. Born March 17, 1945 in Jacksonville, Florida, she was the daughter of Charles E. Lepaige and Mabel Weidler Lepaige. Lynn attended Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida, and earned a bachelor's and master's degrees in education. Through her studies, she developed a lifetime love of language and poetry. Also, this is where she met her husband of 45 years, Tim S. Stuart. After a brief residency in Florida, where she taught elementary school, Lynn, Tim and their son Scott moved to the Potomac, Maryland area. While in Potomac, she continued her professional career by teaching English and serving as a reading specialist, soccer coach and program coordinator at Northwestern High School in Prince George's County, Maryland. Following her retirement from Northwestern, she became an adjunct professor at Georgetown University, where she taught students with advanced degrees how to become effective classroom teachers. Lynn was active in the River Road Unitarian Church, where she had many responsibilities- including serving on the Board of Trustees and co-chairing the annual Bazaar. She grew more interested in fine food, and her gourmet dinner parties became much renowned among her family and friends. During this time, she also became involved in perennial gardening, as well as being an active member of the National Capital Daylily Club, including serving as a judge at many daylily shows. Following their retirement, Tim and Lynn moved to Thurmont. Her volunteer spirit led her to found the Thurmont Gardeners' Club and participate in the Silver Fancy Garden Club. She designed a number of local gardens, including the garden area in the Thurmont Memorial Park, the planters and side garden at the Thurmont Regional Library, the front beds at the Historical Society, and planting areas along the Thurmont Trolley Trail. As an active member of the Thurmont Lions Club, she led the A.R.T. along the Trolley Trail event, participated in many fund-raising events, helped lead the development of the two Lions Club cookbooks, assisted in the Thurmont Make a Difference Day programs, and served as a sponsor of the Thurmont Middle School LEOs Club. She was selected as the 2010 Thurmont Volunteer of the Year and was named, with her husband, as the 2009-2010 Lions of the Year. Lynn will always be remembered as a courageous, caring, inspiring and vivacious woman and her family and many friends will treasure her memory. She is survived by her husband, Tim S. Stuart, her son, Scott L. Stuart, and her twin sister, Pat L.Weber, her nephew, Ron T. Weber Jr., as well two grand¬nieces, her cousin Mrs. Joan Cassels, and additional extended family.
