Lothar Gregor Haid, 85, of Boonsboro, Maryland passed away on October 21, 2015 at the Fahrney Keedy Home and Village in Boonsboro.
Born on September 1, 1930 in Breuchs, Germany, he was the son of Heinrich and Anna (Seifert) Haid.
He moved to America from Germany in 1956. Originally from Long Island, New York, Lothar moved to Waynesboro, Pennsylvania in 1994 and then moved to Boonsboro in 1999.
Lothar worked as a Avianics Engineer for Northwest Airlines at the John F. Kennedy airport in New York City. He retired from JFK airport in 1994.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hagerstown.
Lothar is survived by his loving spouse of 63 years, Wiltrud A. Troibner; daughter, Sandra G. Pizarro and her husband Christian of Boonsboro, MD; son, Patrick O. Haid and his wife Lauri of Savage, Minnesota; one sister, Luitgard Hetlyn of New York; five grandchildren, Alexander, Samantha, and Anastasia Pizarro and Danielle and Aaron Haid; Lothar is also survived by beloved nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Rachel Haid; one sister, Marga Frickel and one brother Hermann Haid, both of Germany.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home in Boonsboro. Officiating will be Rev. John J. Jicha. Final resting place will follow in the Boonsboro Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2015 at the funeral home.
