Lorraine Thomas

Lorraine E. Thomas, 89, of Boonsboro, Maryland passed peacefully from this life on Nov. 1, 2017 at Fahrney-Keedy Home and Village at Mapleville.

Born at home in Boonsboro on January 25, 1928, Lorraine was the youngest daughter of Clyde B. Thomas and Mary Startzman Thomas. She was a devoted family member and was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Margaret T, Green and brother-in- law, Edgar A. Green; her brother, George H. Thomas, III; and sister-in-law, Pauline R. Thomas.

A graduate of Boonsboro High School Class of 1945 and Hagerstown Business College, Lorraine worked locally in various secretarial positions, ending her career as an executive secretary with the GAF Corporation.

Lorraine was a lifelong member of Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church where she served many years on the choir and other committees of the Sunday School and Church. She also worked as a volunteer in the auxiliary for the Washington County Hospital and was a member and officer of the American Legion Auxiliary of Post 10.

In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with friends and family, playing cards and traveling.

She is survived and honored by her nieces, Luana Green Goodwin of Philadelphia, PA, Ann Thomas Keyfauver of Middletown, MD and Carolyn Thomas Eden of Champaign, IL. She is also survived and beloved by six great-nieces and nephews; and twelve great-great-nieces and nephews.

Her family would like to express gratitude to the staff of Fahrney-Keedy Assisted Living and the Hospice of Washington County for their loving care during her recent illness.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 13, 2017 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro where the family will be available to meet with friends one hour prior to services. Interment will be held at the Boonsboro Cemetery. A luncheon will immediately follow at Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church to give friends and family time to fellowship and share memories.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be sent in her name to Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church, 134 S. Main St., Boonsboro, MD 21713 or Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.
