Lorraine Stup Biser, 88, of Brunswick passed away at Sunrise of Frederick Assisted Living on Sunday, August 9, 2015. She was married to the late M. Roland Biser. Born December 1, 1926 near Adamstown she was the daughter of the late Howard Joseph Stup and Lucille Margaret Virts Stup.
Lorraine was the first of six children born into a farming family. Lorraine and her husband, Roland, owned and operated Galyn farm near Brunswick from 1947 through 2002.
Before her marriage she worked in the business office of the C&P Telephone Company. Lorraine was a member of the New Hope United Methodist Church and was an active member of the JOY Class. She was active in the P.T.A. at Brunswick Elementary School and with the Girl Scouts. Later years she joined the Merryland Tract Homemakers holding the office of secretary for a number of years. Lorraine cherished her family, always putting them first.
Lorraine enjoyed traveling throughout the United States with Roland visiting all 50 states.
She is survived by two daughters, Gale Lorraine Grams and husband, Robert, and Linda Kay Murray and husband, Thomas, of Knoxville; four grandchildren, Brad Alan Murray of Ocean Pines, Jennifer Lynne Sorrell and husband, Michael, of Knoxville, Jeffrey Wayne Murray and wife, Andrea, of Harpers Ferry, WV, and Rick Michael Grams and wife, Brooke, of Baltimore; five great-grandchildren, Ruby Jean Murray, Jadyn Raine Murray, Kennedy Erin Grams, Lily Noelle Grams and Cash Roland Murray.
Lorraine is also survived by her sisters, Anna Belle Easton and husband, Earl, Helen Joan Powell, and Phyllis Larue Martin and husband, Kenneth; and by her brother Howard Joseph Stup, Jr. and wife, Texanna; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sister, Frances Lucille Walter; and brother-in-laws, Carroll Walter and Kenneth Powell.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday, August 14 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 Maple Avenue, Brunswick. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 15 at the funeral home with Rev. Katie Bishop and Rev. Jeff Summers officiating.
Interment will follow at the Manor Reformed Church Cemetery.
The family would like to thank all the caregivers at Sunrise of Frederick Assisted Living for their care and compassion. It was especially evident during Lorraines’s final journey the love and care they showed her. The family is so grateful and they have a special place in their hearts for the staff at Sunrise.
