Loren W. Linholm of Ijamsville, entered into eternal rest January 18, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center, Baltimore. He was born in Calexico, California, November 14, 1945. The son of Earl Milward Linholm and Elizabeth (Harris) Linholm, he attended Calexico schools, graduating from Calexico High School in 1963. He enrolled in the Student Engineering Development program at Point Mugu Naval Base attending Ventura Community College until he transferred to the University of California, Berkeley where he obtained his B.S.E.E. in 1968. From 1968 through 1978 he worked for the Department of Defense at Fort Meade, Maryland. He earned a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland. From 1978 through 2003 he worked in Gaithersburg, Maryland at the National Institute of Science and Technology. He earned both a Silver Medal and a Bronze Medal from the Department of Commerce while at N.I.S.T. He was a Fellow in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. He had numerous publications in the semi conductor field. In 1984 he co-founded the International Conference on Microelectronic Test Structures, which has since met annually alternating between Japan, the United States, and Europe.
Loren leaves behind his wife of 47 years, Ruth Ann Linholm; a son Steven Loren; a daughter, Emily Ann White and her husband George of Brookings, South Dakota; two grandsons who were the delight of his life, George William White, III, and Jackson Emmanuel White. He also leaves a sister, Linda Western, of El Centro, California and her husband Mickey; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Junge, of Sioux City, Iowa; a cousin Karen Pinkall and her husband Bob of Pratt, Kansas; and numerous nieces and nephews. He had friends and colleagues all over the world. He will be sorely missed.
Loren was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Ijamsville, MD. He knew Jesus as his Savior and the Lord and is certainly at peace now. He was a quiet, modest man with a warm sense of humor. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, neighbor and friend. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, 3425 Green Valley Rd., Ijamsvlle, MD 21754.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Thursday, January 21, 2016 from 6-8PM where a funeral service will be held on Friday, January 22 at 2PM. Pastor Myung Ha Baek will officiate.
Interment will be private.
